Commissioning a piece of furniture is a fulfilling experience, unachievable by purchasing from a store or catalogue. It is a dynamic and rewarding process that requires patience and trust from both the client and the craftsman involved. The result though is an exclusive item of inherent value, which is ideally suited to your needs, and a source of pride to its owner and to its creator.
The process is essentially three steps:
1. Design 2. Creation 3. Delivery
1. An initial meeting lets us discuss your needs. We will consider budget and any specific deadlines. I will then supply ideas in the form of scale presentation drawing, along with any timber details or hardware specifications. At this point I will also include a quotation for the work and invite you to give your thoughts on the design. If you are happy then a 35% deposit will initiate the order. Any changes to the design are welcomed but may affect the quotation.
2. Once the deposit is received the materials and hardware are purchased and the construction begins. You are encouraged to come to the workshop and see the project taking shape. At the midway point of the making process I request another 35% payment.
3. Once the piece has been suitably finished I will deliver it, and install it for you if required, and submit the final invoice of 30%
